The Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) in partnership with Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has invented a machine to produce electricity from charcoal. The technology, which could be used to provide electricity to rural communities, was transferred to Ghana by Mr. Harrie Knoef of the Biomass Technology Group (BTG) of The Netherlands and it is the first of its kind in Africa.

The newly refurbished office building adjacent KNUST Old Museum has been beautifully decorated with facing tiles.

The facing tiles were produced in the power laboratory of the Applied Industrial Ceramic and Rural Enterprise Development Unit.

The International Development Summer Institute (IDSI), a summer school jointly organized by the Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC), KNUST and the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) has been launched on Monday, 20th May, 2013 at the TCC conference room.

As part of the 4 weeks summer school, 13 students from the University of Pennsylvania  will work with 8 KNUST students to undertake internship in 5 areas; Health, Water and sanitation, Education, Microfinance and  Appropriate technology.

The Provost of the College of Engineering, Prof SK Ampadu paid a courtesy visit to TCC, on Tuesday, 15th January 2013.

In his interaction with the entire staff of TCC, he encouraged staff to do more to raise the level of technology transfer in the country. He believed this would help reduce the level of poverty.

He emphasized that, TCC should carve a niche for herself among other research and business development institutions in the country by focusing on technology entrepreneurship development

The Technology Consultancy Centre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has officially hosted its official website online. The Vision of the TCC is to be an internationally recognized Centre for adaptive research, development, technology transfer, entrepreneurship training and consultancies in Intermediate and Appropriate Technologies for micro, small and medium scale enterprises promotion in Ghana and the developing world.
