Welcome Message from Director-General: Prof. Francis Davis

Professor Samuel Mensah Sackey

You are welcome to the Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC), UNESCO Category II Centre (C2C) of Excellence, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. The TCC was founded in 1972 with a mandate to work with KNUST's academic department's research to co-develop and transfer technology to support small and medium scale industries in Ghana.

Over the years, the TCC has led the University to participate in national exhibitions and winning national awards. This platform has been developed with you, our guest, in mind. It is my hope that it will become an invaluable source of information about the Centre and its contribution to the growth and development of Engineering Innovation, Manufacturing, and Technology Transfer. The Technology Consultancy Centre of KNUST has been designated a β€˜UNESCO Category 2 Centre (C2C) of Excellence in Engineering Innovation, Manufacturing, and Technology Transfer, to serve the West African Sub-region and beyond.

This follows a tripartite agreement signed in 2022 between KNUST, the Government of Ghana (Ministry of Education) and the UNESCO. The TCC is one of the five Centres of Excellence in Engineering Innovation, Manufacturing, and Technology Transfer, in the world and KNUST is the first host in Africa. The Centre seeks to champion the main regional concerns and the priorities of the African Union Agenda, Vision 2063 and the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs by making available knowledge and information on scientific research and linking it to the policy on engineering innovations, manufacturing, and technology transfer.

TCC has been restructured into six units namely; Technology Transfer Unit, Digital Technology Solutions Unit, Applied Industrial Ceramic Unit, Clean Energy Cooking Unit and Food Processing Unit, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit. Each Unit undertakes community impact and enterprise-focused research and development, often working in collaboration with other departments of KNUST as well as external partners. Researchers in each unit write technical papers, reports on development focus projects, and regularly publish in national and international journals and conference proceedings. We are looking forward to working with you. Please enjoy yourself as we lead you through our activities.

Professor Francis Davis.
