As part of the 2025 World Engineering Day Celebrations, the Technology Consultancy Centre, International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) in collaboration with the College of Engineering engage senior high schools in Kumasi on World Engineering Day Celebrations.
The event, held under the theme "Shaping Our Sustainable Future Through Engineering," aimed to underscore the vital role engineering plays in addressing global challenges and advancing sustainable solutions.
The Director-General of TCC-CIMET, Professor Francis Davis, encouraged the students to embrace engineering.
"The world needs more problem solvers, students from diverse backgrounds offering innovative ideas and creativity that enhance the field of engineering," he said. "If you have ever been curious about how things work, love to solve problems, or dream of making the world a better place, engineering might be the right path for you."

Professor Davies also addressed common misconceptions about the engineering field that often discourage students from pursuing it as a career.
He explained that engineering encompasses a wide range of disciplines, from technology and healthcare to sustainability and innovative solutions.
The program included engaging discussions and exhibitions that fostered collaboration among students, faculty, and industry professionals.

Representing the Provost of the College of Engineering, Professor Kwaku Amaning Adjei, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Geo Engineering, emphasized the pivotal role of engineers. "Engineers are problem solvers, critical thinkers, and creators who turn ideas into realities, making a positive impact on people's lives," he stated.
Professor Amaning highlighted the importance of striving for sustainability, safety, and efficiency in engineering, as these values are essential to achieving better solutions for the future.
The event also provided a platform for Senior High School students to explore engineering concepts and learn how they can contribute to shaping a sustainable world.
"Opportunities exist through scholarships, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences," he added.
Ing. Isaac Bedu, Registrar for the Engineering Council, Ghana, underscored the importance of safety in engineering. "Safety is key in engineering," he stated, emphasizing its role in protecting lives and ensuring successful project outcomes.
"Today, I encourage you to pursue engineering. If you look around, everything you see exists because of engineering. Explore and learn more about the field it is the foundation of everything we use in our daily lives."
The event featured a Panel discussion exploring innovative solutions focused on sustainability, technological advancement, and the transformative impact of engineering on society’s future.
