KNUST Technology Consultancy Centre International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) has met the Mfensi community to discuss development of innovative clay products.
Mfensi community in the Ashanti region of Ghana is famed for production of clay wares.
The initiative, which is a collaboration with engineering solutions design company, Innovate Make and Have Ours Ltd. (IMHO) and Women in Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (WiNE-KNUST) forms part of activities to mark International Women in Engineering Day (IWED2024).
IWED is a day dedicated to celebrating women engineers all over the world. This year’s celebration is under the theme: “Enhanced by engineering.”
The outreach is geared towards enhancing the value chain of clay products.
Marketing lead of IMHO, Andrews Sarpong introduced participants to product innovation in the clay industry.
He was hopeful the move will help cushion their finances.
Two members of WiNE-KNUST, Miss Charlotte Asiedu and Mrs. Nancy Anataba Kyorku Dzikunu-Bansah interacted with the participants on ways to enhance their productivity.
Dr. Eric Opoku Osei, Director of innovations and Technology Transfer at TCC-CIMET called for a partnership which would lead to the establishment of a clay research Centre in the community.
