Biography

Makafui is a Ph.D. candidate in Development Studies (KNUST), with research focus on the implications of innovation hubs or makerspaces. His research employs an explanatory sequential mixed-method design to investigate the environmental, social, economic, and governance outcomes. He holds an Executive MBA in Strategic Management and Management Consulting and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, both from KNUST.

Makafui is research fellow at TCC-CIMET. He has 24 years cumulative experience in STEAM innovation hubs and makerspaces management, start-ups development, and business acceleration. He was the Programme Manager for the World Bank funded Kumasi Innovation Hub and Business Incubator under the Government of Ghana’s e-Ghana Project between 2018 - 2021. He is currently the Innovation Manager at the KNUST College of Engineering Innovation Centre under the KNUST Engineering Education Project of the World Bank Africa Centers of Excellence (ACE) Project. He serves as a STEAM mentor with focus on AI/Robotics/VR technologies to secondary school students under the KNUST Responsible Artificial Intelligence Project. He promotes gender-sensitive digital skills development and sustainable start-ups for decent job creation deploying smart solutions for the agricultural, textiles, plastics, and precision machinery value chains.
